Scott Co. has only two death record books which is in very poor condition and hard to read, ranging only a few years. Thus making this collection of cemetery records a valuable supplement.
Now available are 8 volumes of cemetery coverage and a Master Index. Each volume begins with a series of maps showing the location of all these cemeteries. The readings follow and they are arranged by the map sequence. Included for each cemetery are the names of readers and the dates of the readings, locations, names of the interred, vital dates, inscriptions, and notes by the readers giving conditions of stones or additional information from other sources. There are many relationships listed on the inscriptions, the military affiliations, and the large amount of additional material added by the submitters, making this listing a special value.
They not only cover the cemeteries in Scott Co, but overlaps across the county border, extending the family lines that are just outside of Scott Co. Those areas are; Lee Co., Washington Co., Russell Co. Va., Hancock Co., Hawkins Co., & Sullivan Co. Tenn. The set contains over 1,500 cemetery listings. Each volume is completely indexed. A Master Index contains all maps, Indexes of Cemeteries, and all names with their Volume & Pages.
